COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS AT CARAWAY:

Q: What are the services I may need that are not included in the monthly rate?

A: Our rate is all-inclusive. The only things not covered are medications & incontinent briefs. In addition, travel to doctor’s appointments may or may not be covered depending on the situation. No “hidden fees” exist. Small fee for cable/ private phone may apply. A $60 pharmacist review (required by law) fee applies every 6 months & a hospital reassessment fee of $60 applies for readmissions. All fees waived for Medication and NO admission security deposit/fees required.

Q: What does a typical room include?/Can I bring my own furniture?

A: A typical room includes a bed, pillow, blanket, nightstand, lamp, mirror, closet/dresser, waste-basket, chair, & stationery. We also provide decorative measures, a clock, & locked storage upon request. In addition, each room includes a bath and patio door.  We  strongly encourage you to bring your own furniture to make your room as home-like as possible.   Some furniture/items may be restricted due to fire, space, environmental/safety issues.

Q: Is there someone on duty all times?  When is a nurse on duty?

A: Yes, we have trained staff on duty 24 hours/day (as per regulations) and a nurse is on-call 24 hours/day.  A thorough nursing assessment is conducted on admission, every 45 days, on readmission(s), and as changes occur.  Please note that state law prohibits assisted living facilities from admitting new residents who require intensive 24 hour skilled nursing care (unless on hospice).  However, Caraway does coordinate with home health nursing, rehab, & hospice services to allow existing residents to remain, or to "age in place."

Q: When can I have visitors?

A: Caraway Manor has posted suggested visiting hours of 8am-8pm. However, we will make every attempt to accommodate visiting hours outside of those times as well.

Q: If I decline in function, will I have to move out?

A: It depends. State law allows you to remain in the facility as long as the facility is able to meet your needs. At Caraway, we have been approved to provide the highest level of assisted living care; thus, you could potentially remain at Caraway as long as you are medically able, even through end of life/hospice care.

Q: What programs help with assisted living rates?

A: Medicaid Waiver and Cecil County subsidy programs assist with rates for qualified individuals.  If interested, apply ASAP, as both have a waiting list.  Call the local Department of Aging at (410) 996-5295 for more info.

Q:  Why should I choose Caraway?

A: Because the staff is highly qualified, the company has 10 years of proven service, the facility is new and personalized, owners are involved/on-site, all services described are provided in a friendly, dignified manner, the cost is less than other similar facilities, and our entire philosophy exists for the well-being of our residents.
